Unnakaya is a traditional South Indian and Kerala snack made from ripe bananas, coconut, and sugar, stuffed with a sweet filling of jaggery, grated coconut, and sometimes nuts or cardamom. The mixture is shaped into small elongated or oval rolls, coated with a thin layer of rice flour or semolina, and deep-fried until golden and crisp.
This snack is soft and sweet on the inside with a slightly crisp exterior. Unnakaya is often served as a festive treat, during special occasions, or as an evening snack with tea. Its natural sweetness and rich texture make it a favourite among both children and adults
