Chattipathiri is a traditional Malabar (Kerala) layered dish, often described as a savory or sweet layered pastry made using thin crepe-like sheets. It is especially popular among the Mappila community and is commonly prepared during Ramadan, Eid, weddings, and special occasions. 1kg = 250rs
The dish is made by preparing very thin pancakes (similar to pathiri), which are layered in a deep pan (chatti). Between the layers, a filling is added—this can be spiced chicken or meat for the savory version, or sweetened coconut, eggs, and sugar/jaggery for the sweet version. The layers are brushed with an egg–milk mixture, then cooked slowly on the stove or baked until the top becomes golden and the inside sets beautifully.
Chattipathiri is known for its soft, moist texture, rich flavor, and attractive layered appearance when sliced. It is usually served warm and enjoyed as a main dish or festive snack, often accompanied by tea or as part of an Iftar spread.
